Piper Perabo is among the most promising actresses in American film and television industry, usually credited for her roles in chick flick movies. She began her career in show business in the year 2000, when she was cast in the movie The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle for the lead character role of FBI agent Karen Sympathy. She then became part of the chick flick Coyote Ugly, which can be considered her breakout role. Her role in the movie was that of Violet Sanford, aka Jersey, a young aspiring musician who moves to New York to fulfill her dream of becoming a songwriter.
For the said role in Coyote Ugly, Piper Perabo had to undergo voice, piano and guitar classes to hone her singing and musical skills, as well as real bartending. After here role in Coyote Ugly, Piper Perabo moved on to star in One Way or Another, which earned her an MTV Movie Award for Best Music Moment.
In 2001, Piper Perabo was cast in an independent Canadian film entitled Lost and Delirious. She played the role of a boarding school student who begins to spark a romance with her female classmate. This was followed by “Slap Her… She’s French”, in which she portrayed the role of French exchange student. The movie however was shelved in the United States and Canada for two years, and was soon released under a new title, She Gets What She Wants, while it retained its original title when shown in Europe. In 2003, Piper Perabo was cast in the role as the eldest of the Baker children, Nora, in the family comedy Cheaper by the Dozen, and reprised her role in its sequel two years later.
Piper Perabo can be credited for her other films including “The i Inside,” “Perfect Opposites,” “George and the Dragon,” “The Cave,” “Imagine Me & You,” “Edison,” “The Prestige,” and “Beverly Hills Chihuahua.” She also starred in the TV movie “The Prince of Motor City.”
Aside from making movies, Piper Perabo is also active on the small screen and theater. She made a guest appearance as a nutritionist in the medical series House, as well as in Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Piper Perabo made her debut on Broadway in the play “Reasons to be Pretty,” written by Neil LaBrute.
